- Three Appeals Matrix
- Sort and Label activity
- 10 Minutes of Seminar "Which of the three appeals did Lincoln use the most effectively?"
4. Interpret words and phrases as they are used in a text and analyze how specific word choices shape meaning or tone.
This week we will focus on how words and phrases shape a text. Last week's Understanding Language lesson asked us to take a critical look at advertising and persuasive text structure while we consider the composition of our own thesis statements in our PRA 2 paper. While links to all of these documents are still available here on HovanELA, scholars are being held accountable for following and using Google Classroom.
Third quarter we are introducing two CLASS LEARNING elements:
10 Minutes of Poetry; We will start off each week with 10 minutes of poetry. Scholars can wither read or write poetry. Bring your own book or read selections from our literature book. Scholars will use THIS CHART in their ELA notebooks to record what has been written or read.
10 Minutes of Writing: We will pause mid-week to put what we have learned into words. After all, if you can explain it: you really learned it. All writing will be collected and graded as class work.
10 Minutes of Seminar: We will end each week with a chance to answer our Socratic question of the week.
Third Quarter we will introduce and reiterate the HOME LEARNING elements.
Vocabulary:

Warm up: Write the comments for your progress report. Tomorrow we will send a report reminder via Power school for your parents to check your progress. You will have comments included. I will gladly include what you write today... if it is accurate!
The Proof is in the Pudding For which ever conflict you claim for FFA, you will be placed in a cohort. Each group will present evidence for the claim of Man v. Man, Man v. Society, Man v.
